WISH LIST FOR REDESIGN

The following is a wish list of changes that have been considered in the upgrade of the four redesigned parts to modern engineering standards.

Five main crankshaft bearings

Larger diameter main and connecting rod bearings

Shorter (reduced length) main and connecting rod bearings for stiffer crankshaft

Indexed bearing caps for alignment

Replaceable insert type bearings

Full pressure oil system to all main, rod, and cam bearings

Engineered 100% counterweights on crankshaft

Counterweights equally spaced about connecting rod

Some kind of super rear main seal

Positive scavenging of the rear main seal cavity

A positive seal at rear of camshaft

Replaceable camshaft bearings

Positive seals to keep oil from leaking at main bolts

Positive retention for oil pump (without modifying oil pump)

Built in plumbing for oil filter option

Option of taking an oil pressure reading at a galley feeding main bearings rather than at the oil pump

Positive retention of oil pump drive bearing (A-6560)

Drilled oil passages in bosses rather than the pressed in tubes that feed oil to the main bearings

Oil passages that enter the center of the main bearings instead of being offset to one side

Larger and better flowing intake ports

Thicker walls on exterior water jacket

Thicker main bearing webs

Relocation of front main bearing web to center of bearing for added strength

Steel exhaust valve seats

Incorporate the latest (Model B) design for the water deflector fin located just inboard of the water inlet on the side of the block.
